Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install and run
2. Open Illustrator CS5
3. Try to select a pressure-sensitive tool

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to be able to select pressure sensitiveness. The option is grayed out.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Mac OS X 10.7, Illustrator CS5

Please provide
- the status information displayed by the driver
- manufacturer and model of our tablet

Did you generate the configuration with hyperpenConfig or use the plain vanilla
driver?

In AppStore you'll find SketchBookExpress for free. Could you please try out if
the problem persits with this application as well? To me it seems, the driver
isn't configured properly for your tablet.

The tablet is a Trust Flex Design Tablet
Reported in system information as:

         Tablet :

  Product ID: 0x0037
  Vendor ID: 0x172f
  Version: 1.05
  Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
  Manufacturer: WALTOP
  Location ID: 0x26230000 / 4
  Current Available (mA): 100
  Current Required (mA): 100

I start the driver with the following command line, and get the output:

14:45 - ▲ : ~
hyperpenDaemon -v 0x172f -p 0x0037 -w 12288 -h 9216
Aiptek Tablet Driver for OSX
Designed and tested for HyperPen 12000U
(c) Udo Killermann 2011

vendor: 172f
product: 37
width: 12288
height: 9216
Offset X: 0
Offset Y: 0
Compensation: 0
Screen Boundary: 0.00, 0.00 - 1920.00, 1080.00
Tablet connected!

After that, the tablet pointing and clicking system works. I can manage to get
dynamic brushes with pressure sentitiveness in photoshop cs5. I cannot,
however, activate the pressure sensitivity in Illustrator CS5 or CS5.1.

It also woks without efforts in Sketchbook Express.

I don't have access to the Adobe tools you are using. So I don't know if there
is a close link between Wacom and this Adobe tool. Could you as a regular user
of Illustrator contact Adobe and ask if there is a limitation to specific
tablets? If not, perhaps they'll tell you how they detect tablets within
Illustrator.

Are there demo versions of Illustrator available I could use to get an idea of
the problem you are reporting?

I think you can download the full (trial) version of illustrator CS5 here:

Have a look at:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/4071484#4071484

They download an alibi Wacom driver. Perhaps this an option for you as well.

I have downloaded Illustrator and installed the Wacom driver although I don't
have one. After the pressure option is activated. A little play around showed
that the brush library is the way to look for pressure sensitive ones. I used
the Wacom 6D and the hard brushes from the library and they work for me.

All lines were drawn with the stylus. The width is a result of the pressure.

BTW: The driver hadn't nothing to do with the problem. It's an Illustrator
issue. I don't think it's nice to tie an application too close to the device of
a specific vendor (here: Wacom).

Confirm. It was an Illustrator issue that got resolved by installing the linked
Wacom driver here:

http://forums.adobe.com/message/4071484#4071484

I don't even need hyperpen now.
Thanks for the support.

What do you mean by "I don't even need hyperpen now."? Does it work now without
my driver to be activated?

Yes. I'm not sure if it's the effect a Wacom driver i installed during my
tests. I think i deleted it but maybe not.
