Hi there! Hmm, sorry I can't help with that at the moment but I appreciate you filing the report.

I only rolled out the first update to it since April last year just today, so at least I can be sure nothing has changed on the ICAURS Terminal side.

I run the program myself and I've not had any similar problems (or any other bug reports) so I have no way to replicate it; the program doesn't have any bug reporting functionality built into it so there is no easy way to know what's going wrong.

It's possible there is something unusual (maybe even new in the game, or just rare) that is triggering a bug, but I can't think of anything that would cause a crash so not sure where to start. It's also possible it's something like Anti-Virus (e.g. Windows Defender) or local firewall stopping the process.

I will probably just have to close this for now, but I'm interested in understanding the frequency and would encourage other people to comment if they are seeing the same thing.

Am seeing some other reports of this, looks like you are not alone :(

No idea what might be causing this, but ideas for possible causes (e.g. particular activities, etc.) are welcome. Please let me know if you are someone experiencing this issue.

I will see if I can add a crash logger to log and report back the reasons for crashes.

adding logger would be beneficial, even a local one. i would be willing to submit the logs for you to study it if necessary.

im not sure either. but, if this helps, i always play ED with EDMC (for data syncing to inara and EDSM) and Icarus running. for anti-viruses, i don't have anything running except windows defender, and i never had any issue with windows defender on any game or any software (it's become better over the years and easier to control compared to other anti-viruses). i also have process lasso (to help with some games) and throttlestop (to limit the boost clock of my cpu to avoid thermal throttling), running all the time.

@alyyasser Thank you for the additional context!

I have released an update today (0.22) in which the optimization of the build process has been disabled. Up until now it has been compressed and unneeded resources stripped, this reduces the size of the executable for the service (and results in smaller downloads and the installed size of the application being around 50% smaller).

While this has not caused me any issues, this approach is known to cause issues in some cases. The trade off is a slightly larger download - still under 30 MB - and a slightly larger size on disk once installed (around 70 MB). Both of these are relative small anyway so it's not a big deal.

I can't replicate this issue personally (and have tried on 3 Windows systems, 2 Linux systems and 2 Mac OS X systems) and that makes it hard to resolve, so additional data is always welcome. Enough people have reported it anecdotally that I think there is something going on but I don't know what.

If the update seems to run better for folks - or if it keeps crashing - that would be welcome feedback.
