Hi Matt Probably obvious - but would it be possible for you to provide a photo of how to use the y-belt clamps Thanks Tim

Hi Tim,

I've added some links below to some fitting pictures, hope you get on ok with them, some people needed packing spacers to get the belt tension just right.

Thanks Matt

Appreciated. I will give them a fit tonight hopefully. I have also printed out the helical gears you have done for the extruder and Z axis. Excellent stuff.

The most difficult/awkward thing about the build I have found is getting the belts to the right tension.

I am trying to think of a way to get the x belt tight as well. The only thing I can come up with is a variation on the current x carriage. Basically extend it slightly, extend the run of "teeth" along the complete length and then cut it in half with the hot end mount on one side and the IR sensor bit on the other. And then use two long M3 bolts to bring the two bits together and tension the belt. Not very elegant but might work?

Hi Tim,

The X axis stepper motor bolt holes are slots, so if you pull the motor whilst tightening the bolts you can get it pretty tight

:)

Hi Matt

Thanks for pointing out the slots on the X Axis motor, worked a treat. Also your Y axis belt clamps, perfect.

So both my belts are now twanging and I have just printed out a test piece, a 12 sided shape with a 10mm circular hole in the middle, measuring in Netfabb; x - 30mm y - 30mm z - 2mm The actual measurements I obtained are (ignoring the thicker first layer); x - 29.93 y - 29.59 z - 2.29 centre hole y - 9.28 x - 9.64

I would guess this is in the bounds of acceptable accuracy, or would you suggest anything else I can do to improve?

Thanks

Tim
