The pathways.txt proposal has been around for about 8 years and seems to be taking off again. It would be great to have an editor to map out the inside of stations: The background image is just icing, the important thing is drawing the nodes and entrance, elevator, stairs, and turnstile ways and assigning them IDs etc.

This proposal is merged and supported in Google Maps now: https://github.com/google/transit/pull/143

A good time to start efforts in this direction? :)

This is certainly on our roadmap. If you happen to know of any agencies, that are looking for this feature and would be able to sponsor some of this work, feel free to send them our way!
