What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Send any invalid survey.
2. Click <OK> on the "Upload Results" dialog to continue operation.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would like the user to see the human-friendly error message sent by Formhub
when he looks on the "Send Finalized Form" screen. The user has no way of
recalling _why_ the sending failed. This makes support much more difficult,
and makes transmission of more useful error messages pointless, since the user
never sees them.
I see "Sending failed..." with no other details.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
ODK Collect 1.3.0(1030) -- android 2.3
Please provide any additional information below.
I am working on an extension to Formhub which will provide much more powerful
form validation than is possible on the ODK unit. For example, I will compare
the GIS outline of the municipal area the surveyor claims to be in, with the
GPS reading taken, and reject the form pending correction if he is not actually
in that place. I will also check for incomplete entries in critical fields,
etc. This should vastly improve the quality of collected data, compared to
finding those inconsistencies during analysis weeks after the data are
collected.
This extended validation will be accomplished along with loading ODK data into
a GIS database in real time, rather than exporting from aggregate and then
importing into the GIS system later. When a field worker finds Acute Flaccid
Paralysis we want a big red star to light up on the map in the Emergency
Operation Centre as soon as she has connectivity. A special vaccination team
could start preparing to dispatch to that area rapidly.
