also uniformly suppress "invalid name" messages from pylint for all service names
remove many stray whitespaces for better maintainability
break up some extremely long lines
few other superficial comment/documentation mods

I have not looked through all the changes in detail, but it looks good so far. Removing whitespaces is pretty save and removing imports without braking the tests is also a good sign.
