https://vocab.ices.dk/?ref=1632 description needs to be spelled out and also the change Codetype description to something more like VesselClassification or VesselSizeCategories?

GRT= Gross Registered Tonnage GT = Gross Tonnage

3.4. Statistical concepts and definitions (https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/cache/metadata/en/fish_fleet_esms.htm)

The data on fishing fleet are derived from the national registers of fishing vessels which are maintained according to Commission Regulation (EC) No 26/2004. This regulation contains information on the vessel characteristics to be recorded on the registers. The definitions of the characteristics used in the administrative file are laid down in Council Regulation (EEC) No 2930/86 which was amended by Council Regulation (EC) No 3259/94 Tonnage: The tonnage measure initially used for recording the tonnage of vessels was the Gross Registered Tonnage (GRT) according to Council Regulation (EEC) No 2930/86 as defined by the London Convention 1969 (see annex for more information). Although the London Convention has been adopted for vessels of 24 metres in length and over for many vessels only data by the Oslo Convention are available.Consequently, the above referred Council Regulation has been amended by Council Regulation (EC) No 3259/94 defining the characteristics of fishing vessels by the Gross Tonnage (GT) as defined by the Oslo Convention 1947.This change in the method of measurement has been taking place over a number of years and at different time in several countries. The GT of a vessel is generally greater than the GRT. Thus, while this change to GT was taking place (it is now virtually complete), changes in tonnage over time and between countries may be influenced by differing proportions of the fleet using the new method of tonnage measurement.

Length: The length shall be the length overall, defined as the distance in a straight line between the foremost point of the bow and aftermost point of the stern. For this purpose:The bow shall be taken to include the watertight hull structure, forecastle, stem ad forward bulwark, if fitted, but shall exclude bowsprits and safety rails. The stern shall be taken to include the watertight hull structure, transom, poop, trawl ramp and bulwark, but shall exclude safety rails, bumkins, propulsion machinery, rudders and steering gear and divers' ladders and platforms.

Engine power: The engine power shall be the total of the maximum continuous power which can be obtained at the flywheel of each engine and which can, by mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or other means, be applied to vessel propulsion. However, where a gearbox is incorporated into the engine, the power shall be measured at gearbox output flange. No deduction shall be made in respect of auxiliary machines driven by the engine.

Fishing gears: The category used for catching fish or other aquatic organisms and employed the vessel have been used as the basic criterion for the classification of the vessels. On some small vessels the fishing gear is often set and lifted by hand. Medium and large fishing vessels are fitted with appropriate machinery and equipment: derrick, winches, net and line haulers, power blocks, net drums and other specialized gear. This is much more relevant for artisanal fisheries that catching fish from small vessels with or without partly mechanized means of setting and.The published data are on the number, total tonnage (GT or GRT) and total power (Kilowatt) of fishing vessels by tonnage classes, length classes, power classes, age classes and fishing gears.
