Aspect Description
Opportunities Making data available using a standard- or a set of standard-licences makes it clear how data can and can't be used for both data providers and data consumers. Promote value of using standard open licenses on data. A standard set of licences makes it easier for data submitters to know what to expect when submitting data to ICES https://www.ices.dk/data/guidelines-and-policy/Pages/ICES-data-policy.aspx

Likelihood: Under the current ICES data policy all public data are under the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 licence. There are exclusions to unrestricted public access (including RDES, VMS/Logbooks, selected biodiversity and selected VME data), and these are covered by custom data licenses which follow the same structure as CC BB 4.0 but are not open.

Impact: The majority of the work has already been done. Where there are required changes identified in the restricted license then there will be coordination work from DIG required to keep them in-line with each other.
