Aspect Description
Opportunities To collaborate and attract machine learning experts to the ICES community. ICES holds a lot of well structured data that could provide good opportunities both ways. Improving methods for science and advice within ICES using ML methodologies. Lead to possibility for improved outputs. Scope to extended quality checks based on much larger/wider patterns or historic data in a manner that is often tedious or difficult to craft for individual parameters in large datasets. Also potential for faster QC making data available for advice and processing quicker.

Likelihood: There is a starting interest in using ML methodologies and a few WG have started looking into it

Impact: Still a lot of uncertanty related to the impact but potentially medium at this point in time.
