During our May 2024 meeting we held a sub-group session thinking about the next 3 years of our work. Some of the comments included:
“DIG need to improve visibility within ICES community. Need to focus on why DIG exists;”
“Demonstrate impact of DIG: Infographic on what DIG has delivered and supported ~last five years; “
With this in mind, during the September 2024 online meeting we split into sub-groups and answered the following question: “What are the top 3 things that DIG has done for the ICES community?”
The main achievements of DIG were identified as:
Data Profiling Tool (and approach)
Common language for technical aspects and problems
Data policy – data license split.
Establishing common frameworks and standardised practices
Data governance groups
Knowledge sharing.
Best practices document
Diverse group
Linkages to global initiatives
Support for national data flows coming in to ICES
Data guidelines going in to Ocean Best Practices (OBPS)
Data’s Den networking session – community outreach
Use these to demonstrate the impact of DIG, improve our visibility, and attract new members
