r value in the RBS function #8

Hello, Based on the litterature I looked into I do not figure out to understand the r value (5.31/longevity) within your RBS function (Impact_continuous_longevity.R). Is that just maths from the logistiic function ? Or maybe I have not read the right bibliography. May you help me on this ? Many thanks,

Gaël

Hi Gaël,

Sorry for the late response! It is based on Figure 3 in the below paper, where the 5.31 value is derived from trawl impact and benthic recovery data. I can send you a pdf if you do not have access. Paper: Hiddink et al. (2018) Assessing bottom trawling impacts based on the longevity of benthic invertebrates.

All the best, Daniel

Hi Daniel, Thank you for your reply, no problem I used this figure and it was just for my personal understanding. Yes if you don't mind I would be glad to get this paper because I do not have any access. All the best

Gaël

No problem, an open access word version can be found here: https://research.bangor.ac.uk/portal/en/researchoutputs/assessing-bottomtrawling-impacts-based-on-the-longevity-of-benthic-invertebrates(c93495d6-956c-4cd0-8040-a98fafc0de69).html
