Tales of Symphonia Disc Change #41

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Play Tales of Symphonia until disc 2.
2. Watch a in game scene.
3. Gamecube error.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output would be the disc change screen/ ability to change discs. What
I see is a black gamecube screen error.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
DML r52

Please provide any additional information below.
There seems to be no way to advance to disc 2 on ToS.

you got a savefile near the disc change?
How long is it until the disc change?

Yeah I do but I cannot find a way to get the save off my official Nintendo
memory card. Pretty much just leave a room watch a 2min scene and it prompts
for disc change.

Attached are two ToS save files (put both to the memory card):
#1. At the beginning of disc 2 (AF-GQSE-TOS_000.gci)
#2. At the beginning of disc 1 (AF-GQSE-TOS_001.gci)
So if you try to use disc 1, the first save creates an error:
"An error has occured. Turn the power off and refer to the Nintendo Gamecube
Instruction Booklet for further instructions."
but the second save is ok. On the other hand, if you try to use disc 2 (after
renaming its games folder from GQSEAF2 to GQSEAF), the first save is ok,
but the second one gives that error.

Perhaps this could help on testing the methodology to deal with 2-disc games.

For those using NMM and wanting to change discs
you will need to follow these steps. (I used ntsc version. though i think i
should work for all)

1.copy your save from your sd/usb device to a pc
2.open it with a hex editor and add
(475153454146FF02544F535F3030300000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
01784E1C700000040000200030401000F0003FFFF00000000)
to the beginning
3. save it as .gci filetype
4.import it to dolphin and run the game, change discs, save.
5.use gci2nmm to convert it back
6 copy back to sd/usb and enjoy on your console.
