Enhancement: Virtual Memory Card #122

First sorry about the first issue I made. I got distracted by something
else and hit enter, and didnt realize it would do that before I could even
type up the thing I wanted.

Anyways I was wondering if it would be possible to implement a virtual
memory card of sorts to emulate a N64 memory card, so that there is
another save option, where if someone wished they could use the in game
save function and have an actual game save on the sd card or w/e device of
their choosing? I ask cause I know emulators for playstation, among
others that used memory cards actually emulate the card to support such
features, and I can see it applying here, since the N64 used memory cards
to save most if not all of it's games.

On that last note from the above paragraph. About most games saving to
memory card. We all know a few save to cart as well. In those instances
maybe make the emulator ask the user if they would like to copy the save
to VMC or w/e (VMC being short for virtual memory card).

Not sure what else you want, as the in-game save does work, and it does store
it on
your SD card (in wii64/saves), and it does emulate both the eeprom saves and the
mempaks. You just have to make sure you exit to the menu before turning off
the Wii
(if you have autosave on).

Are you looking for compatibility with other emulators or something?

The only issue with save compatibility is the endianness. We will include a
tool
that will swap the files with the upcoming minor update. I'm still not clear
what
this about though, so I'm not going to close it yet.

Well I didnt know that the in-game saves worked. As in the save to memory card
function. However games like Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask save to
cartridge,
though I dont know if this saves in the same manner as the games that save to
memory
card. If it does then sorry. I didnt know, cause I'm not big on trying betas
right
away to test things myself.

I'm not convinced that in-game saves DO work. I tested this morning sith SM
64.
After beating King Bomb-Omb, I selected "save and quit" in game, then I
actually
copied that save in Slot A to the other three slots. I exited Wii64 and
restarted.
When I loaded SM 64 again, there were no saves.

I'm not quite sure about Majora's Mask, because I was simultaneously
experimenting
with the wii64 saves, save states, and in-game save. (Stupid.) I restarted
once and
it appeared that an in-game save "took." But the next time I started it, it
was
gone. Very weird.

I would recommend turning on autosave in the menu. Please actually verify that
a
feature doesn't exist before creating issue reports.

For my part, I'm sorry--I just didn't understand how saves work but now I do.
SM 64
and MM save perfectly. Your code was fine, but my brain was buggy.
