Created also dedicated section in our technical specification standards: https://github.com/icub-tech-iit/cad-mechanics/wiki/Technical-specification-standards#o-ring
CAD model dimensions should follow the technical specification:
Given our application (robotics) I would select the "industrial application" class B O-rings. Are also easily available from SKF: https://www.skf.com/group/products/industrial-seals/hydraulic-seals/o-rings-and-back-up-rings
Unless we have strict tolerances requirements I would select the ISO3601-3 acceptance criteria defined by the Grade N
.
For the designation we can follow the technical specification:
I would also add the material to the designation. As an example for an NBR O-ring we can have:
O-ring designation
_ISO1629_NBR_SHORE-A70
Which is too long (max 31 characters)..
What do you think @salvi-mattia?
@salvi-mattia selected the RS code 196-5457 which is a NBR O-ring, but it doesn't follow the ISO3601. If none of the O-rings in ISO3601 are suitable, then I would name the O-ring following the classical procedure for standard commercial components.
i guess the second one could apply
ISO1629_NBR_SHORE-A70
.
