Fix issues with verification case 1g #116

Closes #84

Fixes issues that made this verification case not run out of the box. Additionally added new test cases for exodus file and analytical solutions as per the new standards. However, more work will need to happen in a follow up PR to clean up the documentation further and provide additional information.
