What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Setup sipdroid 1.5.6, it should be running in background.
2. Browse the web, or do anything that will trigger network activity
3. The network icon should switch from "3g" to "H" if your carrier supports it
4. The sipdroid icon becomes yellow, then green. Looks like it just reconnected.
5. leave your phone idle for a few seconds
6. It should switch back to "3g" to save power, spectrum, or both.
7. sipdroid will again reconnect (yellow, green). That triggers network
activity so the phone might switch again to "H".
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Sipdroid should only reconnect when switching from cellular to wifi. When
changing from UMTS to HSDPA, the phone keeps the same IP address and there is
no need to register again.
What version of the product are you using? On what device/operating system?
HTC Hero, android 2.2
I first noticed this bug after upgrading to 1.5.6. I think it was fine in 1.5.5
and lower. I remember that I had the "3g" icon when idle and that the sipdroid
icon was green.
Which SIP server are you using? What happens with PBXes?
pbxes.org
Which type of network are you using?
Bell Canada (pure "3g" UMTS/HSDPA, no "2g" GSM, GPRS or EDGE)
850/1900 MHz
