Create Minimal Contacts Application for Devices that lack real phone+contacts application #720

Sipdroid works wonderfully for me except where contacts are concerned.
I have a nice Android Tablet with webcam, Speakers and Microphone built in.
I use it strictly on WIFI and sipdroid always on.
Great for recieving calls or calling out.

However - I have no cellular modem - No native "phone" or contacts.

To make sipdroid more useful for people like me, if sipdroid had a setting to
decouple it from the "built in" contacts applications (That doesn't exist for
me) and a way to enable a basic independent contacts application built into
sipdroid, I'd love that. Doesn't need to be anything special.

Something very simple that would remember who called, allow you to see the
caller IDs and add to a contact list etc. Many of us are using tablets that
didn't start life as a phone (-:

Thanks

Jim

I am wondering if there really is no contacts app at all on your tablet. What
model/OS version is that? There should be an app managing contacts for email,
talk, ..

I am using a M701 haipad. I'm pretty good with tech of all sorts. If this
has native contacts manager, I have not been able to find it. I think this
will be a big issue among the non-phone and cheap tablet users. Actually, it
seems to me that M701 lacks not only any contacts manager that Sipdroid can
hook on, it also seems to completely lack any native dial pad. If Sipdroid
were to have some minimal functionality that covers those basic features, it
would help me, at a minimum... but I doubt seriously that I'm alone. As a side
note, any software that attempts to access those features, as if they are
included already, simply crashes - Since the functions that are being called
don't seem to exist. And its Android 2.1...
