If the first request is a SSL host with HSTS enabled, the redirection happens ; then the browser caches the SSL trick and won't open the website anymore.
Since most of the users will use Google.com or Facebook or other major websites having HSTS enabled, this will create confusion, and might avoid the users to get to said websites.
