good idea
Hey @idlewan, I wholeheartedly support this request! Can you make changes so the add-on starts removing fbclid parameter info? See e.g. https://montrealgazette.com/news/montreal-homeless-man-had-nowhere-to-turn-night-dog-froze-in-his-arms?fbclid=IwAR1ZdsDmTlmIV8mYNN3gguFG4Ai9acXEWLumBJD3octbIHijBj5S2B8xlvk#Echobox=1543057634
Yes, please!
It is the year 2020 already. I think this is a hopeless case. I'll look for another extension for now.
@SamSirry we (me and @apiraino) forked it at https://github.com/apiraino/link_cleaner/

That's how it should work (forking to get a project going when it's unmaintained)! Sorry I wasn't around to maintain my extension, hopefully you do get to make it better and make it do what you want.
@idlewan This project in my opinion has a great potential and we're grateful that you started it! :-) I'd like to keep it moving forward and gather contributions.
I have a little request, though (sorry to hijack this issue). Could you @idlewan update the README pointing to our fork as the "successor" of link cleaner? I can also write down two lines in a PR to make it easier.
That would be greatly appreciated :+1:

Done.
Facebook has started adding a
fbclid
query parameter to every link leaving Facebook. This is a unique string of unknown meaning that is most likely used for tracking. We should strip this parameter from all links visited.
