Linux fixes #1

This makes the demos compile and run for me on Linux (using CMake to build), which might be useful for some people. Haven't tested on Windows but hopefully that won't have broken much.

Thanks for doing this Philip, I'll confirm this works and still works on Windows, then I'll merge it.
