Clarification: are you looking for a hook on the getURL call?

Not sure if that is exactly it, since long form will probably still be needed... but it'd be good to be able to get a short form as well (for example when posseing to twitter), and to be able to plug in vanity shortners (for example, all my urls are mapkyc.me/xxxxx.

No need for link shorteners on Twitter anymore, but in the general case I understand. I might mark this as wontfix but add further hooks into the POSSE plugins.
