At device level we have the model name and the software rev. The software rev I believe is the version number (e.g. for Cisco IOS would be 7.11.2 , 7.8.2, etc, for Nokia 23.10, 24.4, etc....). The O.S. name itself could be (or not) included in the software rev.... So... would it be more clear "decoupling" the software name and the software version/revision? This would requiring adding a field for the operating system name or software name. Another possibility, instead of just one leaf, would be to have a specific operating system container hanging from device... Thoughts?
