Restrict visibility of "adult" material #9

In issue #41 I depict a few rules that I think would apply to games/authors that violate our code of conduct. But games containing adult materials don't inherently violate our code of conduct.

I think games that don't violate the code of conduct but do contain adult material would work like this:

  1. If you navigate directly to the page, initially there should be a full-screen interstitial saying "Content warning: this game contains __" with an "OK" link to click through, and a "Don't warn me in the future" checkbox
  2. There should be a user setting allowing you to disable/re-enable content warnings
  3. Don't show content-warning games on the home page (New on IFDB, IFDB Recommends…) unless you've disabled content warnings
  4. Don't show these games in "more like this" recommendations (unless you've disabled content warnings)
  5. Like CoC-violating games, hide content-warning games in search results by default, but add a banner saying "some search results were removed, click here to see them all"
  6. Like CoC-violating games, hide the games in IFDB Lists as well (including the IFDB Top 100), again including a banner "some entries were removed, click here to see them all"

Content warnings will be enabled by default for the public (not logged in)?

Don't show content-warning games on the home page (New on IFDB, IFDB Recommends…) unless you've disabled content warnings Don't show these games in "more like this" recommendations (unless you've disabled content warnings) Like CoC-violating games, hide content-warning games in search results by default, but add a banner saying "some search results were removed, click here to see them all" Like CoC-violating games, hide the games in IFDB Lists as well (including the IFDB Top 100), again including a banner "some entries were removed, click here to see them all"

If I enable content warnings I expect to see all the same works but with added warnings. Removing works amounts to content filtering.

Every adult game contains adult content. But is every respective search listing and game page adult content?

Is filtering listings and game pages lumping together the common case where a search listing or the respective game page is not adult content (so it should not be hidden) with the rare case where a search listing or the game page is adult content?

An alternative to indiscriminate filtering would be to flag adult content in search listings and game pages for removal. Is there an occasional need for spoiler tags in game descriptions, and every field of the game page?

Indiscriminate filtering is unnecessary.

I've split this out into a separate issue, #341, just tracking points 1. and 2. above, so if you navigate directly to a game details page, we can show a dismissable warning there. This issue #9 can continue to be about hiding stuff in various places.

Restricting visibility of adult content (even with banners) is (still) controversial; it's not clear if we'll ever implement visibility restrictions for adult content. But I claim that #341 is pretty uncontroversial, so we should probably do that part, at least.
