Using Live 12, didn't seem to work. Rebooted and followed instructions.

I just checked it once again. Both 12.0.1 and 12.0.10 work just fine:

So I had a file called 'Graphics.alp' I had to delete, perhaps I missed that step? But I had to change the file path also to 'Graphics/SuiteSplash.png' rather than 'Graphics/Large/StandartSplash.png'

Still, the new splash screen only shows up for an instant before crashing. Any ideas?

You shouldn't delete that file. Moreover the README says nothing about deleting files 🙈 I do believe you need to restore the file somehow (if you decide to do this by re-installing the Ableton - pls don't forget the "On macOS" step from the How to Install)

Ok but when I followed the ‘README’ it simply had zero effect on Ableton. I only did something different because the ‘README’s instructions didn’t work 😛

I guess the issue in the file name: my file named StandardSplash.png coz I use Standard-edition. also I tested Lite-edition and the image should be named LiteSplash.png

So, I guess for your Suite it should be named just like shown on your screenshot - SuiteSplash.png

swimnbird commented 1 month ago

Update: I simply need the file name to be 'SuiteSplash.png' File path /Applications/Ableton Live 12 Suite.app/Contents/App-Resources/Graphics/Large/SuiteSplash.png Graphics.alp stays in the App-Resources folder as you suggested.

I see you came to the same understanding, works and retrospectively kinda obvious as I didn't realize you had the standard edition and I had Suite.

It also seems if you have a file in the 'Graphics' folder directly, Ableton uses that to get the dimensions of the splash screen. So you could have a file there for the dimensions you want and another file for the image itself it seems.

Glad to hear that! I have no good idea how to use file for dimensions. In case if you do - you may make a fork. As for this issue/repo I think I will outline different Live editions in README then close the issue.

Thanks for filing and figuring out the issue btw)
