This appears to be due to missing VC DLL's. I assumed they shipped with Windows
because all of my test-systems had them, but it appears to not be the case. Do
you
mind installing the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package
(x86)":

If this works for you, I will make sure to bundle these DLL's with the next
release of
namebench. Thanks for the report!

Yes, I got the same issue/error and after installing "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008
SP1
Redistributable Package (x86)" (vcredist_x86.exe), I was able to run namebench
1.0.

Hi,
I just installed the VC 2k8 distributable and then downloaded and installed
namebench-
1.0.1.exe. It runs w/o a problem now!
Thanks,
kodeninja

I'm a bit skeptical, but this may have been fixed by some packaging changes in
version
1.0.3. Can anyone confirm if they still run into this issue?

Tried 1.0.2 this a.m. and got the OPs error. Just tried 1.0.3 and although it's
a
different installer, after the extraction process I get a dialog that states
"namebench.exe could not be executed" (see attached gif.) Am unable to download
VC
2k8 due to corporate blocks, will download tonight and can try tomorrow.

To fix this issue, follow the instructions on Microsoft's website:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9b2da534-3e03-4391-8a4d
-074b9f2bc1bf&displaylang=en
While I could in theory redistribute the package with namebench, I choose not
to as
Microsoft does not provide the source code for this library.
The FAQ has been updated to reflect this.
