Detailed Design - Floater #15

Considered design steps for the floater: (1) Upscaling methods based on Roach 2023 to approximate sizing for semi-submersible 18MW FOWT. (2) Using OpenFAST open source software (Matlab/Python) to test design and optiminse. (3) Final hand calculation check using Morison's Equations (yr 2 fluid design project) to accompany the final OpenFAST results.

Closely relate to the mooring design (calc forces) and anchor system design.

I am writing the description of wave loading calculations based on Ollie's code, evaluating the assumptions for our calculations and how realistic they are based on IRL applications. I will also research ways to convert the information provided in design basis to suit our specifications (e.g. ESS conditions with 50-year return period)

22/05 : Done: -Equivalent 24-DoF formulation -Part of the determination of the mass matrix

To do: -Finish assessing mass and stiffness matrices -Determine matrices of inertia for each floater for the lumped parts of the mass matrix
