v0.8.2 Beta Testers Wanted! #965

Open ChadBailey opened 2 years ago

ChadBailey commented 2 years ago

Please consider installing the beta version of VSC at https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/video-speed-controller-be/kgciknbfdanakgjeeoihchpljcejkkdj?hl=en&authuser=1 and reporting your experience with it (whether it works perfectly or if you have problems) at https://github.com/ChadBailey/videospeed-refactoring/issues.

It should work exactly as this extension works today with some barely perceptible improvements. The improvements are for coding and testing purposes only but we need to know if the sweeping changes to the back end have broken anything before we send it out to everyone.

To be very clear, all changes happening on the beta repo will be merged into this repo and the BETA extension page AND BETA repo will be archived upon conclusion of the refactoring effort.

This is a continuation of #963 and #964

I've installed the beta and thus far there are no issues that I have noticed. Was able to make all the settings in the panel I desired and it's working as intended on the sites I use.

What's the status on this? Any plans to merge this?

There is a different Extension in the store "Video Speed Controller - video manager Version 1.0.5" which is confusing possibly some people as to what is what. They don't have a website, nor a Github page. So possibly, bringing out a new version could bring more people to this extension vs others by just having a current version published.

@ChadBailey are you still game for / have time to land the merge?

Hi Chris, thank you for your extension which I've found very useful.

I'm perplexed about the long cryptic string at the end of content.js in this new version.

That doesn't seem very much open source, so I'm wandering if I should stay with the previous version...
