Currently clients just try to connect to the sockets that correspond to devices. In addition to these socket there should be another socket that the daemon uses to list the currently connected devices and update interested clients about how the list changes.
Clients can now talk to the ctl socket to list devices. With the framework in place we can start pushing other daemon level functionality there. Examples would include:
notifying interested clients when devices connect and disconnect
turning automatic id/alias fetching on and off
controlling the rescan timer, the bad toggle fix, automatic rescans on disconnect, etc.
