macOS Silicon Release #1577

A macOS silicon release would be great

Hi Aidan - Have you had a look at the IGV download page? https://igv.org/doc/desktop/#DownloadPage/

Apple's Rosetta software is required to run the IGV MacOS App that includes Java. If you run IGV with your own Java installation, Rosetta may not be required if your version of Java runs natively on M1/M2.

There does appear to be a ARM version of Java downloadable here https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/downloads/#jdk21-mac

I'm working on this but its really quite difficult to do in the package, notarized, easy-click mac app. I don't have an ETA on that. However you can always install your own ARM java, as suggested above, and download and run the "command line" version.
