Any news? Quite a few posts in my feed require translation.
This is not a client side error. It's an error that comes back from the Mastodon server if it does not support translation (i.e. is earlier than Mastodon V4) or if the server admin has not configured the server with translation enabled. Translation costs money to use, or requires extra config and server resources, so many admins don't turn it on.
We might want to reword the error message so it doesn't cause confusion.
But to solve this problem for your own usage, you can switch to a Mastodon server that has translation enabled - https://toad.social is the one I use - or you can ask your server admin to enable the feature.
Yet it works in Mastodon's web app version, same domain. 😐

Excuse me in the previous reply, I am wrong. It's FediLab that works on the same domain. Most likely built into the app itself. Sorry for the noise.

yeah - so as the title says, attempt to translate non-English posts on the TUI itself causes a 'translate server error' message to appear on the terminal. any chance we can see a fix?
