Report from Haiti: "PS we solved the IIAB maps issue by upgrading painstakingly to OLPC Release 12.1.0 -- in fact our Haitian team in Grande-Goave, Haiti will be recording their full 1-hour IIAB training session from 2-to-3PM starting in 5min :)"
Report from Haiti: "Firefox 3.6.23 on Gnome on OLPC Release 11.3.1 on XO-1 fails to load http://internet-in-a-box.org maps in exactly the same way as Browse-129.1 on the same (11.3.1) XO-1."
In other words, we should be able to just test against Firefox 3.6 without an XO and confirm the error, and use Firebug to trace it.
So it seemed I didn't need to do any testing this time? :-)
I'd still like you to flash the old version and test the fix.
done :-)
Field report form Haiti: maps fail to load on browsers on OLPC XO-1's running firmware 11.3.1. They work on the newer 13.2.0-12.
However it is difficult and undesirable for XO-1s to run newer firmware because it is slower and difficult to upgrade. So we need to try to accommodate 11.3.1
This is probably due to a Javascript incompatibility with the leafletjs map rendering applet.
I am pretty sure I had maps working on older OLPC firmwares in May. I may have upgraded the leafletjs library since then which may have introduced the problem.
John, can you start by verifying the issue by flashing your XO-1 to 11.3.1?
