@HarukaMa @inflation Do you think there's any problem with this?
Since I'm using an English system, all the CJK fonts show its names in English, and it works fine with either family, full or postscript names. So I suspect that CoreText only picks English(or MacRoman, to be more general) names instead of the localized ones.
It could be a little bit annoying, although I'm doing conversion anyway for maximum compatibility.
System and IINA version:
Both IINA and mpv are not displaying the ass subtitle fonts correctly. The problem and solutions are as described in this page shared by ZRStea, please have a look.
According to this author, libass started using CoreText in macOS as the font selection backends from version 0.13.0. Unfortunately, CoreText use the font's PostScript Name to selection fonts, instead of the font's full name, which is widely used in the ass subtitle file. For example, a full name could be "方正准圆_GBK", and its corresponding postscript name is "FZY3K--GBK1-0".
