Does iitc.me offers such things or is the plugin itself useless now?

This does need fixing, but the iitc.me site isn't capable of handling update checks in this way. The plugin will need to check for updates differently, but it isn't clear how many people are actually using it. For a start, it's explicitly described as "work in progress" :smiley:
