Player tracker showing more than the supposed last 60mins? #38

Did I miss an update and the player tracker is supposed to show more than the last 60 minutes or is it really a bug? Currently, it's showing me my track over the last 180 minutes, which is kind of nice, but could easily start to be messy in larger cities, I imagine?

I did increase it to 3 hours, as an experiment.

In the UK, even close to London, this isn't excessive. I could see it being an issue if player density is higher though.

Perhaps a better option is to go back a maximum of X player location events (with X to be determined) - and a maximum age of, say, 4-6 hours. This way it should work for both high density, high activity (and relatively short trip?) areas, and the more rural, lower density, longer trip areas equally well.

I'd love others thoughts in this area here.

I think that's the best way. I've seen people complain that they need it changed from 1 hour to 15 mins or less. Where I live I can set it to 10 hours and only have a few.

I'd say min of 30 mins, and however many users that is. Then max out at 15 players or however long chat is normally gathered, which ever comes first.

You could make a maximum of total player activities for current zoom level. Suppose you have player A with 20 locations and player B with 5 locations, for a total of 25 locations. Capping at, say, 10 per player, the first locations of player A are not shwon, although there would be enough space on the map to show them all. Capping at 25 total would show all activities of both players. I don't know though how much work this would mean on the coding side.

Where in the world can I see examples of excessive player numbers active at one time? What time of day is worst?

jon, amazing plugin (player tracker), but does anyone have this issue, the .png marker files are offline on github, 404! http://breunigs.github.com/ingress-intel-total-conversion/dist/images/marker-blue.png http://breunigs.github.com/ingress-intel-total-conversion/dist/images/marker-green.png at least for me.. so in the map i see a not found picture instead of the marker, it's so bad, can you fix this? i have v0.8 @datetimeversion@ under tampermonkey

ps. i cant understand if I have to say this to you, or I should say to breunigs. dizz thanks anyway

@Facc Please uninstall your current version and reinstall from http://iitc.jonatkins.com/

Facc commented 11 years ago

aw thanks! all updated now.. btw i still dont have the redeem code textbar but i have no passcodes so :D maybe share more that link http://iitc.jonatkins.com/ because i think not all folks r able to find it.. ;)

jonatkins commented 11 years ago

@Facc I've already shared it pretty widely. I don't want to post it more on G+ from my own account in case it attracts too much attention from Niantic, but I'm happy for others to do so. Spread the word! ps. best to create a new issue with any other problems you have

Facc commented 11 years ago

yup okay, yes niantic is disappointing me about this, r they jealous? lol anyway thanks for all, closed.

Can this get closed?
