Some extensions reappear #34

If I log off, reboot or use the PC for some time, several extension icons that should be hidden reappear.

So I have to choose an extension from the list and then select to hide again. Or press 'Alt + F2', type 'R' and press 'Enter'.

Thanks for reporting. Is it always the same icons that reappear? If so, what extensions do they belong to?

soeirorenan commented 6 years ago

Yes, always.

@ikalnytskyi @theychx

Yes same ones for me too. Dropbox and App Updates image

I think this issue is related to https://github.com/ikalnytskyi/gnome-shell-extension-icon-hider/issues/27

Because all the ones that reappear are ones that have that contextual behavior I believe. At least my app update one does, and at least the dropbox one normally does on Windows.

Also this issue is related too: https://github.com/ikalnytskyi/gnome-shell-extension-icon-hider/issues/29

It seems that @ikalnytskyi does not have time to work on the application, and several of these bugs are pretty inter-related.

I'm a designer learning to do web development frontend. I am not up to snuff to fix these issues. Is there another way I can help move these along or recruit someone who can? This extension is in my opinion a must have for anyone using Dash-to-Panel. It's basic expected functionality for a panel. Would it perhaps be a good idea to see if Dash to Panel were was willing to merge this code in with their own? It seems to me that would make sense. though I can also see the advantage of keeping this thing separate so that it's functional for people who are using the default topbar behavior in Gnome. Any thoughts?

I have a similar issue with 'Game Mode' and 'Emoji Selector' These extensions are set to show and disappear on their own, but Icon Hider forces them to show until I manually deactivate then activate the settings within each extension that allows them to not show their icons all the time.
