Wired tether was working with ChromeOS, but does not appear as a connection in Ubuntu 11 #46

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Plug in phone
2. Activate wired tether
3. Look for wired internet connection

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The expected output should be seeing a wired internet connection listed as 
"eth0" or "usb0" and allowing full access to internet.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Wired tether 1.4 in Cyanogenmod7, ChromeOS (current), Ubuntu 11 (Natty Narwhal, 
fully updated). 

Please provide any additional information below.
On the phone side, it has not changed at all, but the linux in ChromeOS seems 
to be able to register it fine, while Ubuntu does not see the phone in the 
network settings. I will also be asking around the Ubuntu forums.
