Can't get IP Address on Motorola XPRT (Sprint) #61

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Root phone
2. Install Android-Wired-Tether
3. try to connect with computer

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Ubuntu starts trying to get a DHCP address, but it never accomplishes anything; 
the data transfer rates on the Wired Tether display screen stay at zero.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Phone:
Motorola MB612 (XPRT)
Android 2.2.2

PC:
Linux Mint 12 Lisa
