Odoo 9 supported timesheet models, through the timesheet module. Odoo 12 dropped this module, I believe OCA has a replacement, but creating the native support seems like a natural thing to do.

I feel like this has been implemented in the Odoo 12 support branch, and may be backported to Odoo 9. I might do this if I feel like it, which will probably be never.
