Plugin removed all friends from my steam account, reverted them to "Invitations Sent" #74

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Add steam account to pidgin, friends show up in the "Buddies" group
2. Rename "Buddies" group to "Steam"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Group should be renamed without issue, instead all of my friends (except one)
are removed from my Steam account. Signing in with the main Steam client shows
that they have been removed from there too, showing up as "Invitations Sent" in
the Steam client.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Pidgin 2.10.8, plugin version 1.4, Windows 8.1

Hmm... thats odd. there's specifically code in there to handle that case both
for handling the renaming as well as adding them to a Steam group by default.

Can you doublecheck that you dont have an old version (or more than one
version) of the plugin in your Pidgin\plugins folder?

This happened to me too, just now.

Pidgin 2.10.9, plugin v1.4, Arch Linux (up-to-date).

@migatheotaku It's probably more likely that the steam service just went
offline and all your buddies are appearing as offline until the account
reconnects?

All my friends were removed and are showing up as "Invitation Sent". Everybody
has to accept the invitation to get back on my Steam friends list. It happened
after I tried to rename the group as well.

I actually thought maybe this was just a Steam problem (shortly after this
happening, Steam's services went down) but unfortunately they don't seem to be
related, and my friends list is still messed up.

All steam friends were removed as well upon renaming the group. Checked the
steam client as well as the website itself, and only one friend was listed but
under "Invitations sent".

Sent requests to two other friends and one was accepted almost immediately and
the other about 20mins later when they got home (and they were all online when
I was snooping around the website to double-check that it wasn't just a
community offline issue).

Pidgin 2.10.9, plugin v1.4, Win7 Pro 64bit (all available updates).

Just committed a change at revision 95 that should solve this problem - there
was code in there to handle the buddy being re-grouped but not for handling the
whole group being renamed

This is a pretty serious bug. Doesn't this justify a new release ASAP?

Fixed in the just-released v1.5
