When loading:

https://www.xe.com

I simply get a white screen appear, nothing showing on screen, no error messages, just refuses to send to: http://www.xe.com

To reproduce just goto: https://www.xe.com

That kind of happens with some websites. In that case the workaround is to black/whitelist it.

Just a thought but have you ever considered auto-adding into the white list a collection of sites that do not work to make it easier for new adopters to your extension ?

IMO that is a bad idea, as these sites may get HTTPS at any time. Rather, if anything, a list of sites that do work, but at that point one could just use HTTPS Everywhere.
