There are some nasty name conflicts with shell: bash shadowing Microsoft's LINK.EXE with GNU link. I have given it a thought and some experiments, but to no avail yet. Let's at least document a hideous-but-what-do-you-suggest workaround, and probably save some nerve cells to whoever runs into this issue again.
