Our second project meeting was conducted in B40-B Alumni Hall on February 2nd at 4:00 PM. Benjamin, India, Madelyn, and Claire were present. During this meeting we:
Discussed what issues we were facing in finding source material that is no longer under copyright.
Discussed the possibilities of narrowing our research focus, such as focusing on gender, intersectionality between race and gender, and specific time periods
We decided that we may focus on three women: Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith, and Mamie Smith. We each picked out 5 songs for each individual. The artists that were chosen no longer have copyrights on all of their music.
We also decided to narrow our time period from approximately 1910 to 1923.

We need to finalize the songs that were picked by double-checking the copyright.
We need to finalize our research question and decide what attributes we are looking for within the songs.

Possible background information listed separately for the women
Possible song to listen to when you open the webpage
Possibly discussing the actual writers of the song
Deciding how we want to tag the songs if we choose to monitor changes over time
