On most software repository sites, there is an option next to the shorr list of newly added titles, to download /install the app in one click.
Actual behavior
ApkMirror uses this download ⏬ to open another page, which lists the details of the application, including link to a new version, find that link amongst all the text, (not always easy on a small screen or using a TV remote) click on that link, you get taken to a new page with more version to choose from, find one with a download apk icon / text, and click again, that takes you to another page where you can click the actual download link (if you win the lucky dip, or you might end up back at one of the previous pages).
Then wait for the download and install from your preferred installation app.
This process is oddly similar to malware-filled pirate software sites.
