Pesterchum Issue #67

A few days ago I downloaded Pesterchum, newly, on my Gateway Laptop. For some odd reason, it decides not to work. The program opens just fine, but when it prompts me to create a chumhandle, it doesn't register me properly and leaves me as pesterclient####. This has been an ongoing issue, regardless of a reboot or a re-install. I also can't pester anyone, or change/install themes. I tried to debug the program and here is a link of the report:

So yes. My Gateway laptop is one of those really old laptops (that they don't sell anymore, but I got "over the counter", as a term), with the touch screen monitor. Kind of cool actually. I'd really like if a participating programmer/coder would assist me with a solution on this issue, because I really do enjoy using pesterchum as a chat medium.

Sign, it looks like your username or something in your computer uses a non-ASCII character, which will break Pesterchum. Sadly, the only real way to get around this is to use an older ZIP version of it. This is a known bug, and I'm not sure what other workarounds there are.

I'm assuming the old ZIP file is in the old (busted) thread? If so, is it drastically old?

EDIT: I think I've fixed the issue with the username. Oddly enough, this administrative account does not use a non-ASCII character. And even when it was in Spanish, it still didn't seem to have any strange character at all either. I've looked up tutorials and followed them promptly, but that still didn't fix the issue. And if there is no other 'real' way to fix this issue, then I suppose my above question still stands.

EDIT EDIT: I suppose the main issue is because this laptop came in Spanish. I'll ask my sibling if he can reset the entire computer and set it default to English, as in, from scratch, or whatever, and see how that works out. If it doesn't work out, then, yeah, above-above question stands. Edits all around.
