I tried, but actually could not find the way to make the xpi compatible with 
both firefox and komodo. It seems a separate komodo extensions required.

In that case how hard would it be to create a separate extension ?

Currently I don't even know how to create an empty extension, unlike FireFox 
which uses JavaScript+XUL, Komodo seems to use PyXPcom technology which I have 
no idea about so far.
