I think the current license is actually misleading and we should respect the author's intention. Any thoughts @sindresorhus?
I agree, but we need to remove the "License" section from the readme and also update the "license" file in the repo.
Then, I'm going to take over the task.

pngquant-bin includes and redistributes GPL-licensed pngquant.
Even though the wrapper code may itself be MIT, I think marking the whole package with pngquant inside as MIT gives false impression that it can be used in MIT terms.
