Hey! If your Mac is supporting Mojave then you are lucky - you can just install the official Wine on Mac via Homebrew and the lightweight version should be working (you need to download the older release, since newer support only standalone).
Unfortunately all systems have the same issue with the launcher - changing from Play on Mac will most probably not resolve your issue. However, since you have Steam installation it should be ok - they made it work somehow.
I have a macbook pro running Mojave i used to play on play onmac before new launcher messed it up. When i try installing through this when i try opening the app i get this
I curently have the game installed via steam through crossover app Last login: Sun Oct 23 23:14:36 on ttys000 XXXXXXo:~XXXXX$ /Applications/SWTOR.app/Contents/MacOS/SWTOR ; exit; /Applications/SWTOR.app/Contents/MacOS/SWTOR: line 21: 70315 Segmentation fault: 11 WINEPREFIX=$PREFIX_DIR $WINE "$SWTOR_LAUNCHER_DIR/launcher.exe" > ~/Library/Logs/SWTOR.log 2>&1 logout Saving session... ...copying shared history... ...saving history...truncating history files... ...completed.
