It hasn't worked for me in a few weeks at least, I'm not sure when but it stopped across my devices. If anyone else is in the same boat I'm happy to troubleshoot.

Edit: It looks like there is now a fork of this extension: "Cal Merge for Google Calendar" that is actively maintained and has added additional features including disabling the "candy cane" effect and giving merged events a gradient 🌈.

I went with a different extension... Can't recall the name right now and naturally not available on mobile 🤬

Ah. Found it! I think...

That's the same extension as this one. The same developer.

pyperdown commented 2 years ago

Sorry. Lemme check again, pulling from my production work account. Yeah, it's the same and is working correctly.

Nevermind then! It's just me. Not sure why I can't get it to work anymore.

slmingol commented 2 years ago

It sporadically works for me and doesn't as well.

pyperdown commented 2 years ago

Dumb question... What other extensions are active? Version of Chrome? Operating system?

Tried it in incognito with that as the only extension?

We've had problems with poorly written extensions. One that resulted in a 2 hour excruciating zoom + TeamViewer session with a Taiwanese developer and a translator. Gah!

Yep I disabled everything but this one extension and also tried it in incognito. Chrome version is latest atm - Version 103.0.5060.114 (Official Build) (arm64).

Theo-Cheynel commented 2 years ago

It's not working for me either, running Chrome 103.0.5060.114 64-bit on Ubuntu 22.04.

I need to spin up a vm. I miss Linux so much. I can get soooo much more heavy lifting done.

Found a fork that works well and has some new updates: https://github.com/HCAWN/gcal-multical-event-merge

Thanks for this @HCAWN

That is so odd. Toggling on and off didn't do anything? SOMETHING has to be different.

I wish I still had a Linux workstation to mess with it, closest I have to that is a chromebook (aka Google Linux in my shop). Usually a lot better telemetry is available than on winderz. I think you CAN launch chrome in debug mode.

I imagine you've tried reaching out to the developer? Some are quite responsive, I can't recall if I've had any interactions with this one...

Hey @JoeFromDenver, do you want to edit your OP to link to the actively maintained fork to help out people stumbling upon this issue?

Repo: https://github.com/HCAWN/gcal-multical-event-merge Webstore: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dchpdbljalbfnelbfbgncfidhjoibkah

I've left a comment to that effect on #82 which is similar to this issue.
