[BUG] RAW files from Fujifilm S5 APS-C - no image nor thumbnail #3697

Closed JarlMorgennebel closed 9 months ago

JarlMorgennebel commented 1 year ago

The bug

I used a Fuji S5 DSLR APS-C and stored my pictures in RAW (.RAF) format.

Few of the albums are being imported and displayed, other full albums (100 pictures together) are neither displayed as thumbnail nor as image when selected.

I am unable to attach a faulty .RAF to this issue, but happy to upload one of pictures.

Forgot to note: Mac OS 11.7.4 Big Sur is able to display thumbnails and full sized pictures from a Samba share of the same files in Finder and Preview. Therefore I conclude the files are not defective, but Immich has issues reading the Fuji S5 RAW format.

JarlMorgennebel commented 1 year ago

No change after upgrading to v1.73.0 (what a timing ;)

alextran1502 commented 1 year ago

We haven't looked at this yet. Until this issue is worked on and closed, you will see the issue remain open

JarlMorgennebel commented 1 year ago

Apologies, I did not want to be pushy or difficult - just adding information.

alextran1502 commented 1 year ago

No worry, just clarify the workflow and expectation

JarlMorgennebel commented 1 year ago

Workaround: install https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/using/adobe-dng-converter.html and convert .RAF to .DNG, replace .RAF with .DNGs in current location but store original RAW in DNG. Reimport entire existing collection. All pictures become available.

mcginty commented 1 year ago

FWIW, it might be a fast-track to use an external library like darktable's rawspeed which supports Fuji RAW.

mertalev commented 1 year ago

We use libvips, Imagemagick and libraw as our image libraries. The latter is what handles RAW images and it does support RAF, but there are a lot of things that can go wrong with processing RAW images.

Hi: Same bug here, and the immich verison is v1.79.1

The libraw can identify the raw file correctly:

Verified that this works with vips 8.15.
