Prevent Invalid A-Numbers on Client and Derivatives

Current

The Client Alien Registration (A-Number) field is a text field without any edits - formatting or otherwise.

Success

• A-Number field should prevent invalid A-Numbers from being entered
• A-Number field should display an error if user tries to save an A-Number with an invalid format
• Derivative A-Number should also have the same edits; should not be able to create or edit a Derivative with an invalid A-Number.

Why

• A-Number is used to link Clients to EOIR cases (Issue #86 - Display EOIR court/case info). If the A-Number is not formatted / entered correctly, EOIR case and calendar info cannot be displayed for the client.

From https://www.uscis.gov/e-verify/customer-support/glossary Alien Registration Number (“A” Number) or Alien Number A unique seven-, eight- or nine-digit number assigned to a noncitizen at the time his or her A-file is created. The 9-digit U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services number listed on the front of Permanent Resident Cards (Form I-551) issued after May 10, 2010, is the same as the Alien Registration Number. The A-number can also be found on the back of these Permanent Resident Cards.

Soft edit format should only warn if A-Nbr:

• has any character that is not a number (0-9) or a hyphen (-). Any placement of hyphen(s) is ok.
• has less than seven numbers
• has more than nine numbers
